Development Team Lead

About our team

We’re a team working on a project that we hope will make a real difference: making healthcare more affordable and easier to access. Our goal is to build a platform that brings together insurance and medical care into one simple app. 

We’re looking for a thoughtful, hands-on person to help guide our development team based in Tbilisi. You’d be someone who enjoys both mentoring a team and getting involved in the technical details yourself.

A glimpse into your role

We see this role as a blend of leadership and hands-on contribution. Day-to-day, you would likely be:

• Supporting and mentoring our team of developers in Georgia, helping them grow and fostering a space where everyone can do their best work.
• Helping us architect and build reliable backend and full-stack solutions, primarily with Python and Django.
• Guiding the development of our RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Working closely with product managers and others to translate ideas into practical, technical plans.
• Helping us keep the platform performant, secure, and reliable for our members.
• Encouraging good practices through thoughtful code reviews and testing.
• Jumping into the code when needed, whether that’s on the backend or helping out on the frontend.

What you might bring to the table

We’re not looking for a perfect match, but we think you’d be comfortable in this role if you have:

• 6 or more years of experience in software development, with a good amount of that time spent on backend or full-stack work.
• Experience in a leadership or mentorship role. You find it rewarding to help other engineers succeed.
• A strong foundation in Python and Django; this is central to our stack.
• A strong foundation in PostgreSQL and some experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• A good grasp of system architecture, especially around RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Bonus: Familiarity with frontend technologies like React.
• Any experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) would be a plus.
• Clear and kind communication skills in English. We’re a global team, and this helps us all stay connected.
• Russian language – an advantage.
• An interest in using AI tools to help the team work smarter and faster.
